Read comments (None yet) - The Department of Finance and Personnel for Northern Ireland (DFP) on 13 August started a pilot web site, OpenDataNI, to "improve access to government information and data, and stimulate creative use of that information and data beyond the walls of government".

- The city council of Dublin is using the open source content management system Drupal for an online networking tool for city administrations, Citieslinked. "This application is well suited to a community web site such as this."

- Health Atlas Ireland, an Open Source application to analyse health related datasets using geographical information systems (GIS) and statistical software, was one of twenty projects that were given the 'Prime Minister Public Service Excellence Award'. The awards were handed out last month by Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.
