- The Estonian government's Informatics Centre (RIA, Riigi Infosüsteemide Arenduskeskus) has last week published two more versions of its open source software to enable users of Mac OS X and GNU/Linux easy access to their electronic identity card.

EE: Open Source ID developers connect to national ID card

- The Estonian Open Source start-up Ideelabor is in talks with the Estonian government to combine OpenID, an Open Source Internet identification system, with Estonia's smart ID card. It would make Estonia the first country that enables citizens to use their national ID as an OpenID for identification and authentication on the Internet.
