According to the organisers of this workshop, the lack of ICT skills of health professionals is hindering the development of the health sector. Even though many medical software applications are designed by researchers and at universities, Open Source software development is rarely seen in this sector.
The workshop organisers want to stimulate discussion about the possible role of Open Source in health care.
The Open Source workshop is organised in conjunction with the Second International Joint Conference on Biomedical Engineering Systems and Technologies - BIOSTEC 2009.
