Nordic Perl Workshop 2009
The topic of this two days event will be "Your future with Perl" and a particular focus will be put on Perl 6, Rakudo and Parrot. Participants could also discover additional and more modern ways of using Perl 5. The event will be co-located with the GO Open 2009 conference.
UKUUG Tutorial on Request Tracker
This one day event will provide a general training on Request Tracker (RT), an enterprise-grade ticketing system written in object-oriented Perl, which enables a group of people to manage tasks, issues, and requests submitted by a community of users. The RT platform has been under development since 1996, and is used by systems administrators, customer support staffs, IT managers, developers and marketing departments at thousands of sites around the world.
Maltese World Plone Day
On 22 April 2009, the Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise in Valletta will host the first Maltese event dedicated to Plone, one of the biggest open source projects worldwide. Plone has been developed since 2001 by two hundreds core developers and three hundreds solution providers in 57 countries. This open source software is available in more than forty languages and it could be used with all major operating systems.
10th Libre Software Meeting
The tenth edition of the "Libre Software Meeting" will take place in Nantes, from 7th to 11th July 2009. Under the title "Nantes 2009 : Rendez-vous Libres !", this edition focuses on software migration and change management towards free software. The aim of the event is to show visitors how to profit from open source software and applications in different domains.
OpenOffice.org Conference 2009
2009 edition of the OpenOffice.org Conference (OOoCon 2009) will take place in Orvieto, Italy, from 3 to 5 November 2009. A member of the OSOr.eu team will attend this event.

2010 edition of Akademy, the annual developer conference of the open source desktop environment project KDE, will be held in the city of Tampere, Finland. KDE is one of the leading open source desktop projects, known by the majority of Linux users. Akademy will take place the first week of July 2010. The conference will be organized by COSS, the Finnish Centre for Open Source Solutions.
Portuguese meeting on free software for Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
The second edition of the Portuguese meeting on free software for GIS will take place at the University of Évora, from 2 to4 November. The conference will focus on the ways open source software for GIS are implemented in various sectors, such as the Public Administration, different types of organisations, the academia, etc. The event also aims to enhance the development and use of existing technologies and GIS programs by organising various wokshops.
Hack.lu
Hack.lu is an open convention where people can discuss about computer security, privacy, information technology and their cultural and technical implication on society. The aim of the convention is to crate a bridge connecting different actors of the computer security sector.
JoomlaDay Italia 2009
The second annual meeting of the Italian Joomla community will take place in Rome, on 21 November 2009. This one day event is open to Joomla users, as well as to all those people interested in learning more about this free and open source content management system.
Eclipse-IT 2009
The fourth yearly meeting of the Eclipse Italian community, which includes universities, industries, researchers, practitioners, students and professionals is organised by the University of Bergamo, Italy. The meeting provides participants with an occasion to share ideas and knowledge on the Eclipse platform and to extend and supporting its applications.
Talend open studio discovery roadshow
The Talend Roadshow is a series of free technical workshops which are taking place in different cities through Europe. In a three hour session participants will receive complimentary training in Talend Open Studio, which is available under GPL2 licence.
Linux 2008 - Conference and Tutorials
Linux 2008 will take place at the Manchester Conference Centre, part of the University of Manchester, from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 November. eParticipation Conference
The projects co-funded by the European Commission under the eParticipation Preparatory Action are organising an eParticipation Conference, which will be held at the European Parliament, in Brussels. The aim of the conference is to inform citizens about what the European institutions do to diminish the democratic deficit in the European Union and to involve the citizens into decision-making processes.

This one-day BarCamp will focus on availability and use of public administration data in France, in Europe and in the United States. Participants are requested to present case studies and demonstrations.
Bug squashing party
From 22 to 24 January 2010, Debian developers from different countries will meet at the German Open Source Support Center in Mönchengladbach for a three days event, which aims to celebrate the elimination of remaining bugs.
Friprog open debate
A Friprog open debate will be held on 12th October at the House of Literature in Oslo. The title of the debate, led by Torgeir Waterhouse from ICT-Norway, is "Er det penger i noe som er gratis?" (Are there funds available somewhere?).
Open source community day 2009
Open source day is one of the largest conference on open source in Denmark. The event focuses on Linux, Berkeley Software Distribution, Apache, and Samba. The event aims to provide participants with a platform to exchange knowledge and learn more on last open source developments and applications. The event is open to system administrators, programmers ans users of Linux, Unix or Berkeley Software Distribution.
Hands-on Labs in Schoten
A series of workshops on various open source-related topics will be held in the Belgian city of Schoten, on 13th November 2009. The workshops, jointly organised by the Municipality of Schoten and the local Royal High School, will focus on the growing importance of open source applications for both organisations and companies.
Linuxerie: les jeudis du libre
Nîmes open source community meets every second Thursday for a convivial event. The aim of these meetings is to offer participants an occasion to learn more about open source software and to share experiences, ideas and points of view on open source-related issues.
OpenDocument format plugfest
The second OpenDocument format (ODF) plugfest will take place in Orvieto, Italy, on 2-3 November 2009. This two-day ODF interoperability workshop aims to bring together the key vendors and organisations implementing open document format, in order to achieve full seamless interoperability for the entire feature set of ODF across all suppliers, platforms and supported technologies.
Solutions Linux 2010
The programme of this three-day event, which is expecting more than 220 exhibitors and 10.000 visitors, will also consist of conferences on different topics related to open source. The panel of speakers will be composed of French and international open source experts.
Conference on free and open source software for geo-information systems
FOSSGIS-Konferenz (Freie und Open Source Software für Geoinformationssysteme) will take place in the German city of Osnabrück in early March. Topics include uses of open source GIS applications by public administrations in Sweden, Switzerland and Germany.

One of the biggest conferences on Linux in Slovenia, according to the organisers, 'Linux Konferenca 2010', is scheduled for 27 and 28 September, in Portoroz.

This year's Fcons, Free Society Conference and Nordic Summit, is taking place at the IT-university in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden. The organisers promise a wide range of lectures and events, covering kernel design, citizen journalism and licensing in the 21st century.
European Telecommunicatins Standards Institute 2010 security workshop
This annual workshop on security standardisation will bring together international standards developing organisations (SDOs) and security experts to discuss recent developments, share knowledge, identify gaps and co-ordinate on future actions and work areas. The workshop will include overviews of the work being done in the area of security across standards and technical bodies, along with presentations from major organisations involved in security initiatives.
Electronic transactions broadcast industry conference
This conference will deal with on open source standards for HR management, with a focus on flexible and temporary employment. Particular attention will be paid to open standards applied to time sheets, invoices and quotes.
Embedded and mobile use of GNU/Linux
GNU/Linux is increasingly being used in mobile equipment. On Thursday November 6 and 7 two conferences are jointly taking place on this topic in the city of Ede, the Netherlands.

UKUUG DNS Tutorial
This one day tutorial is intended for Domaine Name Server (DNS) administrators who wish to extend their understanding of how to configure and manage name servers running BIND9. Participants should already have some experience of configuring and running a name server and be familiar with DNS jargon, resource records as well as the syntax of zone files and named.conf.
Setting standards in Delft
Setting standards is a simulation exercise on strategy and cooperation in standardisation organised by the Delft University of Technology and United Knowledge. The training will focus on both scope and content. Experts from sciences, business sector, government and standards organisations are expected to attend this one-day training.
Mozilla classes at the University of Évry
From 19 to 23 October, the University of Évry will held a week of classes especially dedicated to Mozilla, under the title "Course on Mozilla education and Technologies @ Evry". This project, jointly organised with Mozilla Europe et Mozilla Education, is the launching event of a new University module entirely dedicated to Mozilla technologies. Mozilla instructors and professors will provide studenst with practical and theoretical skills.
UKGovOSS.org London conference
The second national UK conference on open source in the public sector will take place in London, on 25 November 2009. The programme of this one-day event will consist of presentations and case studies showing successful applications of open source software in the public sector.

The seventh edition of the Linux and open source day organised by the German city of Kiel will focus on professional and private applications of open source software. The first day will present various Linux and open source solutions applied in the business sector and in the field of public administration. The second day will focus on private applications and community projects. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit an exhibition on Linux and other opens source software.
Fourth free geographic information system days
From 10 to 12 March 2010, the fourth consecutive edition of the free GIS (Geographic information system) days will be organised by the University of Girona, Spain. The programme of the first day will consist of different workshops, while the second and third day will be dedicated to conferences, debates and presentations.

CERN workshop on Innovations in Scholarly Communication
This three days event will take place at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Its target is mostly composed of open access and repositories developpers, research information policy developers at university or library level, open access publishers, and influential researchers who want to develop open access in their own field. Previous workshops have built a strong community spirit and the event is a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and contact details with the wide range of people connected to the OA movement. The OAI series of workshops is one of the biggest international meetings in this field and takes place roughly every two years.

This edition of "open source meets business" will focus on the gain of open source software and how to make it happen. The event is open to decision makers, leading IT industry players, and heads of the open source community.

The first Saarland IT industry event will take place in the Congress Hall in Saarbrücken, on 18 September 2009. The event aims to offer visitors a comprehensive overview of current IT trends and of the know-how of the Saarland's IT industry. More than fourty exhibitors will present new business solutions (standard software, individual software, open source software), Internet technologies, network and information security systems.
GUADEC 2010
GUADEC, the annual GNOME conference, will be held in The Hague, Netherlands from the 24th through the 30th of July 2010. The conference is expected to draw more than five hundred attendees to discuss and direct the future of the GNOME Project. GUADEC will draw members of the GNOME development and user community, as well as many participants in the overall FLOSS community from local projects, organizations, and companies.
Dev'Days VideoLAN 2009
The Dev'Days VideoLAN event aims to bring together developers of various VideoLAN projects, such as: VLC, dvblast, vlma, EIP, and VLMC. Particular attention will be paid to this last project, an open source software for video editing and mounting. Free and multiplatform, it combines simplicity of use and advanced features. The project was selected for the Google Summer of Code, during the summer of 2009.
Le Jeudi du Libre à Nîmes
